Circuit Breakers & Fuse Boxes
Repair and Replace Service for Circuit Breakers and Fuse Boxes
Circuit breakers are also called breaker boxes, fuse boxes, electrical panels, and electrical access panels. They are your home’s electrical network. When your circuit breaker is nonfunctional, devices may not work right, if at all. The electricians at Service City Air & Electric know all the proper techniques and have the right equipment when you need help with circuit breakers and fuse boxes!
Why is my Breaker Tripping?
Circuit breakers are triggered by short circuits, ground fault and circuit overloads. These can cause damage to devices on the circuit, so the breaker trips and disengages that circuit. Circuit breakers trip more often than you might think: it’s what they’re supposed to do! However, if your breaker is constantly tripping without reason, it may be wearing out or the wiring needs addressing. Whatever the case, our dedicated experts can bring electrical restoration!
Signs Your Circuit Breaker Requires Replacing
There are many ways you can pick up on an electrical issue. If any of these are true in your home, hire a professional electrician promptly:
- Buzzing, sizzling, or crackling noises in outlets
- Flickering lights
- Outlets that work sometimes or not at all
- Outlets are hot or show burn marks
- Switches that are heated, spark when turned on, or no power when turned on
- Breakers tripping frequently
- Exposed or aluminum wiring
- Loose breakers/screws or burn marks present on your electrical panel
- Multiple wires attached to one breaker
- There have been major renovations
- Home is 20 years or older
For any of these issues, Service City Air & Electric is here for you for emergency diagnosis, installation, repair or replacement.
What are Fuse Boxes?
Fuse boxes function as effectively as regular circuit breakers to protect your home, but are an older method. They have a thin filament that is destroyed when the current exceeds its limit. Unlike circuit breakers which reset, their fuses must be replaced once used. Be aware of the risks. It’s important to keep labeled spare fuses on hand for replacement and should you not clearly label your fuses, a fuse with incorrect amperage could be placed into the circuit.
